A Few Flags in the United Kingdom and the England Flag

St. George Flag is another name for the England Flag. Although English people have used this flag for centuries, it is not the national flag of England. The national flag of England is the Union Flag or Union Jack. To create the Union flag some features on the England Flag had also been used.

Still English people use the St. George Flag at every celebration and function. The Red Cross on a white background is the design of the St George Flag. The Union flag or Union Jack flag was designed when Great Britain and Ireland were united in 1801. The Union flag design on the St George Flag is a merge of the Cross of St Patrick of Ireland and Saltire of Saint Andrew of Scotland.

However, at the time of designing the Union Flag, Wales was with Great Britain. Therefore the Saint David flag of Wales was not taken for the design of the Union Jack. English people hoist their national flag at every occasion, personal or public. Therefore, every year many new flags of the national flag are produced. The St. George flag, which was treated as the national flag in ancient England is also now hoisted irrespective of the occasion.

On the other hand a Golf flag has no national value. It is part of a Golf Game that indicates holes. The Golf assistants place the Golf Flag on an elevated place so the players can see the hole on the green from a distance.  For some golf courses, the organizers of the game use color-coded Golf Flags. In different colors they indicate the centre of the green, front, back and centre.
